4wd not working

Asked by GDUUUUU Aug 22, 2016 at 06:27 PM about the 2000 GMC Sonoma SLS Ext Cab Short Bed 4WD

Question type: Car Customization

Hi,

My 4wd on my gmc sonoma 2000 hasn't been working since I bought it and
I decided to try it out and fix it. I changed the actuator and the cable. As
soon as I start the truck the actuator sucks in like if it was in 4HI but it's in
2HI. Also, it doesn't do anything when I press any of the
buttons(4hi,2hi,4lw). When I remove the vaccuum line the air comes out
and the actuator goes back to normal.

Any ideas?

Just curious, how many miles are on your truck?? My stepson has a 2002 SLS 4WD with the 4.3 V6.....

Thanks, I think my stepson has under 200k. I've been telling him to sell this gas guzzling thing before it blows up. He has one DEAD cylinder so it's only running on 5 instead of 6. That's NOT GOOD. Any suggestions...he doesn't have money to have the engine rebuilt and I don't think it's worth fixing...
