2000 sonoma died going 65 down interstate and now won't start. just clicks when try to turn over

Asked by mstill9880 Apr 15, 2015 at 05:04 PM about the 2000 GMC Sonoma SL Reg Cab Short Bed 2WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Was going 65 down 4-lane highway. Gauges bottomed out and it died. Now it won't start. I just kind of clicks. Husband said it almost acted like it was out of gas when it died. We put gas in it to make sure that wasn't it and its not. The truck is still on the side of the interstate 1.5 hours from home because we don't have a trailer and can't afford a tow bill. O'Reilly's told my husband maybe the crank sensor?

Check fuel pump relay and fuse, if good have someone listen at filler neck, turn key to on position DO NOT CRANK, pump should run for a few seconds then shut off
