Tbi 5.7 wont start

Asked by Jercozad Mar 14, 2016 at 11:02 PM about the 1989 Chevrolet Suburban V20 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1989 suburban v2500 with a 5.7 tbi. It ran
good when I bought it and I drove it everywhere for
about 6 months the only issue with it is that if I
drove it for a long time and would stop shut it off
and get to restart it it would take a long time to get
it going and would have to feather the gas to keep
it running them when I wks start driving it again to
would be fine. Now I parked it in front of my house
3 days ago and it will not start. I sprayed starter
fluid and it would go and I wks floor it and it had a
really low idle for a few seconds and would die.
The injectors look like they are spraying fine
I switched The t ps and ingition module. Any
advice would help.

Low fuel pressure, sounds like fuel filter is clogged or the fuel pump is bad.

Ok I'll see if I can rent a pressure set from autozone should I test it beings the fuel filter?

Make sure an have a new fuel filter installed first for best results. The fuel pressure gauge will hook up by the TBI. Make sure and find the set-up to be able to check fuel pressure for a TBI, there are different configurations of fittings for what you are checking, say like on a Vortec, it has a Schrader valve to hook on to, Yours does not.
