noisy fuel pump

I have a 2015 and a noisy fuel pump. My mechanic tells me this can become a
engine problem and may lead to a engine repair or maybe a new engine. Is he
correct?

If the fuel pump is noisy, it needs to be repaired but it would not result in engine having to be repaired, when the pump finally breaks down it's not going to pump fuel and engine will die. The problem is, you don't know where or when.

Te worst that could happen is you are stranded 50 miles from nowhere. No possibility of engine damage. Your mechanic is a liar or an idiot.
