2014 Nissan Rogue. Why does the manual say to not leave the key in the car?

Asked by Guru9DJVRC Nov 21, 2020 at 03:07 AM about the 2014 Nissan Rogue Select S AWD

Question type: General

The Nissan manual says in bold letters to not leave the key in the car. Is it
talking about in the ignition or inside the car itself?

I sometimes like to leave my key in the drink holder instead of carrying it on
me. Is this okay to do? Will it lock me out? Can it damage the key? I don't
understand what they mean.

Your car is a push button start meaning if the fob is inside the car push brake and push button and bye car. And secondly they rogue is notoriously hard to "jimmy" as some auto lock and ends up costing a smallest broken window to gain access.

Moparman - No, the car is not push-button start. The fob is in the key. I was thinking of having a duplicate metal key made at the hardware store and locking the master key in the car while I surf since I can not get the master key wet.
