2015 Kia Optima Service message

Service message with a count down. When starting it was slightly sluggish for
a couple of days, the next day I drove to the store and then it wouldn't start, no
clicking just dead with a hard brake. All the dash lights work. Is this a battery
problem?

Thank you, it just said Service 2 days, Service 1 day, and then 0 and then it wouldn't start. This car is new to me and is all computer run so it acts odd to be a battery problem. Can I just test the battery and replace it without going through a dealer? They probably have to reset codes or something
