Burning Smell

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Since the beginning of 2019, my 2015 Dodge Dart Limited has been falling
apart. Most recently, my check engine light came on, turns out it was a
faulty thermostat. I got that fixed and as soon as I drove the car off the
repair shop lot (not an exaggeration) my battery light came on and a burning
smell filled my cabin. When I pulled over my hood was smoking and it was
coming from the battery. After inspecting it further, it wasn't the alternator,
my original thought, but the fuse box had melted together. Long story short,
everything has been repaired, but the burning smell still persists when I run
the air con. Any ideas?

My mother has a 2016 Dart, and it's been back to the dealership multiple times for overheating. They've replaced the thermostat each time but that never fixes it. Then they started throwing parts at it, new alternator, battery, engine coolant temp sensor, finally now they are talking about replacing the engine computer. This should be a recall issue, looking into it seems a lot of Dodge Dart owners are seeing engines overheat or burning smells coming from under the hood, along with check engine lights. We drove it home from the dealership after one of their repairs and there was so much heat emanating from the engine you could have fried an egg on the hood. WTF. Sorry I don't have a suggestion for you but just wanted to let you know you're not alone. Loose connection or wire harness up against the engine or exhaust component

My Dodge Dart 2013 has done the same exact thing since I’ve had it!! Ive also had to have my alternator replaced, new battery, new tire sensors, coils, plugs, o2 sensor, sunroof fixed, my steering wheel locked up on me and now my transmission is out.... I’ve had nothing but issues with it but I still love the car

Update: I was able to switch out the cabin air filter (really easy to do on a dart. Don't spend the money to have it done) and that seems to have solved 99% of the smell issue. I still catch whiffs of a burning smell now and then. All has been well though since I was able to replace the fuse box.

I have a 2013 that would have that smell when braking. turned out to be the oil separator/pcv o ring leaking.

How much did I cost to replace the fuse box my blower motor relay for the AC/Heat in the vehicle was damaged and partially melted I replaced the relay but it looks like it may have damaged the actual terminal and I’m having intermittent issues with the fan
