below car making helicopter sound when driving?

Asked by Legenkilla Jul 23, 2019 at 12:41 PM about the 2015 Kia Forte LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just got my car maintenance about a week
ago i got my tired rotated, oil changed, and
was told my back breaks were metal on
metal so i had to get pads put on and
resurfaced the rotor, anyways ever sence
them my car makes a helicopter noise when
driving which gets louder then faster i go, my
car never made a noise untill after i got the
maintenence done on it. I had a few people in
my car recently  who kept looking for a
“motorcycle flying by” or a helicopter passing
above” is what they said. And i hear it as
well. Any ideas what this could be?

What's the ride like? Has it gotten any rougher? Are the lug nuts tight on your wheels? When they rotated the tires, did they balance them? Is the noise coming from the front or the rear?

It deff feels a bit rougher sence getting it maintnanced. It never felt rough before then but now it vibrates more then it did before and its making that helicopter noise as well as a weird metal or clanking sound when turning sharply.

First, check the lugnuts. They have a nasty habit of loosening and it's a good habit to tighten them about 60 miles after having any tire removed and replaced. If that doesn't resolve the issue, go back to where you had it serviced and talk to them. There's a slight possibility that they shaved your rotors a tad too much and they've warped -OR- a tire weight wasn't tight on the rim and fell off. The warped rotor happened to me and my service was done at a Kia dealership.
