Headlight switch and lights malfunctioning

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2015 Outback low beam headlights started shining very bright so they
were like high beams and blinding oncoming drivers. This happens
intermittently when the light switch is in the OFF and AUTO positions but
goes back to normal brightness in the ON position. I changed the headlights
but I am getting the same problem. It's been happening for a couple weeks
now.  It is very bright and blinding when it happens. They've been working
fine for 3 yrs.

I would have swapped out the headlight switch assembly not the bulbs themselves. I would look into testing the switch next.

VRoom12345 When you say swap the headlight switch" do you mean the on, off stick attached to the steering column? Or is there another switch somewhere? thanks!
