Will Snow Tires Help me?
Asked by chuckhuffman Aug 28, 2016 at 08:40 PM about the 2015 Porsche 911 Carrera S Coupe RWD
Question type: General
I drive a 911 and it's my only car presently. I recently ordered an Audi to be my
winter car. But I just read in an email that my car won't arrive until after the
new year. Will a set of snow tires for my Carrera S suffice to get me around on
most days when it's cold? I live in SE Michigan. We don't get a ton of snow,
but it does pile up from time to time.

I agree, no snow tires on a 911. You should be able to afford a junker to drive this winter.
This is one of those questions that just don't look real- you have a new Porsche and you are waiting for a new, I guess ordered, Audi? And you think you have PROBLEMS?! omg
There are snow tires for the 991 and it is reasonably good in the snow, but do you really want to submit a $100k car to driving in salted icy roads? Why don't you just buy a cheap 4WD like a 2006 Subaru and use that on the ice?
Only in America do they fret about driving a German built Porsche 911 on a snowy day!! A 911 all wheel drive with snow tires will drive as well as a BMW x series all wheel drive. The question is on a severe snow storm do you want to risk being hit by another car in your expensive Porsche? Probably not if you have insurance and can afford the car in the first place. In Germany they do drive Porsches in the snow, duh..
