Fiat 500 loudness while driving?
I’ve had my 2015 fiat 500 for a couple years
now as my first owned car, and I love it.
However, I’ve been worrying about the
loudness inside the cabin while I’m driving. It
isn’t a particular noise, it’s just a very loud
constant sound and some vibration. It seems
to get louder at certain speeds, like when I’m
driving at 55 the noise is very loud but when I
get up to 62 the noise subsides. The noise
gets very loud when I slow down and start to
brake. I’ve just gotten it inspected and the
only thing that was wrong was that my
brakes would need to be replaced soon. Not
sure if this would cause it. I’m just wondering
if anyone else has experienced this or knows
what causes this or if it’s just how it runs.
Thank you.

Hi! You’ve probably figured this out by now but it may be your tires and shocks - at least it was with my 500e! I failed to check the tires as my car never needs servicing and they were virtually bald! With new tires it’s back to its quiet fun self! Thanks & best of luck!
Rear wheel bearings are a common issue. About $90 labor part $150-$300 range for part. Very simple DIY project. Bob G

Did you find the solution for the problem?

I’m having the same issue with my 500. It get so loud above 60 but quiets back down at 80 (don’t judge). When I’m slightly turning right it is the same but when I turn slightly going around a curve the noise goes away. If you want to see the video you can text me your email and I will send it. Four two five. Three nine nine. One five three six.

Anyone have an answer to this? My Fiat 500 is doing the same. It gets so loud when running at high speeds. It sometimes goes away for a few minutes and then comes back. Has nothing to do with engine rpm. Sometimes, when accelerating, it gets louder, and sometimes when taking my foot off of the gas it gets louder. It must have something to do with the rotation of the wheels. It's so loud that I can't even determine which wheel or wheels it's coming from. It's just a deafening noise.

Having same problem with 2014 500L lounge, the loud increase when are turning to the right, I did inspected it and the axle intermediate is making noise, but looks like the biggest loud comes from the differential which is located inside the transmission. I'll replace the stub shaft and hope it resolve the problem.

I'm having the same problem I think, it's a noise like a loud hum when I'm between 1000-2000 rpms. Like it stops when I am going faster, but with local driving it's just loud, even when stopped, so I don't think it's the wheels. Anyone have an answer to this? I have a 2015 Fiat 500 with 101k miles.
Hi, Not a mechanic. But for my prius it was barrings.

And this: Do Fiat 500s suffer from road noise? My wife has decided it is time she would like to trade in her 2003 Toyota Yaris 1.0. After much deliberation we looked at a Fiat 500, which she likes the styling and shape of very much. The build quality looked good and I know you have one which you have been very pleased with. We took a 1.2 Pop for a test drive and were very pleased until we reached about 50mph on a fairly rough road, when the tyre noise increased so much we had to start almost shouting at each other. We tried another 500 but the noise was again apparent. Apart from this we would definitely buy one, but now we're not sure. After we left the garage we drove our Yaris on the same road, and the noise level barely increased at all. Is this tyre noise typical of the Fiat and what can be done about it? Asked on 18 August 2012 by PB, via email Answered by Honest John I have very little tyre noise from mine on 185/55 R15 Michelin Energy or 175/65 R14 Michelin Alpins. 185/55 R14 is the standard Lounge size and 175/65 R14 is the standard Pop size. I use Pop 14-inch wheels for the winter.
