I have a 2002 Thunderbird with a severe gas smell inside car. It can get better or worse in the same drive. May smell it a little outside. Had the car since 2002 and no issues with anything

The first thing I would check is the pressure regulator at the fuel rail .. There is nothing inside the cabin of a car that has fuel in it .. at least I've never heard/seen anything.
Emissions canister may be clogged or broken hose.
You will need to check ALL the lines from the fuel tank to engine and back. These new fuel systems are a plumbers nightmare. you may have a hose with a minor leak or a connection. Check for gas under the car by placing a newspaper under it when you park it and turn it off. If there is any leak, you should be able to find it in 15 minutes and by sliding the paper straight out, you can determine exactly where it is under the car.
I know it is 2 years later since this issue was noted above about a strong gas smell. I also have this while driving with the top down mostly. It can get very strong or go away but it is always noticeable. Has anyone had this and figured out what it is to get it fixed?
