Acceleration varies different times when driving?

Asked by Guru94PN2J Sep 20, 2020 at 01:27 PM about the 1997 GMC Jimmy 4 Dr SLE 4WD SUV

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1997 gmc jimmy and it has a problem I'm
not so sure about. Basically sometimes at full
throttle it gets up to 6000 rpms right away, but
other times it slowly revs up like it's at half throttle.
Is that a fuel issue? battery issue? Any help would
be awesome thanks!

Check all the basics. Plugs, wires, cap, rotor etc. Change the air and fuel filter and use a good fuel system cleaner. Clean the throttle body and the intake sensors. You can also scan for codes.
