Starter relay

Been looking for a week cannot find starter
relay , checked under dash and hood . Car
won't start lights come on though.

The battery is there primarily to start the car- as such, it has a big old wire attached directly from the battery to the starter- it needs ALL the current that battery can pump to it- there is no "relay"- why not research what a relay is, and how it functions?
