Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The door latch (at the left side of the photo) is in the closed position and I cannot see how to get it open. Consequently, the door cannot be closed properly.

This additional shows the latch mechanism (bronze colour, partially detached).

This photo provides a closer view of the latch mechanism, which appears to be the problem part. Turning the door key moves a plunger (painted red) up and down(inside the door) towards the latch mechanism. A nylon pad inside the latch appears to be the intended target for the plunger. The nylon pad is brittle and broken. Any suggestion for a source of a replacement latch are most welcome!!
