Ac not working on passenger side
Asked by Joe May 03, 2018 at 06:22 PM about the 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT FWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Last year I replaced the passenger side blend door
actuator due to ac blowing hot air on the passenger side
which solved the problem. I just turned the ac for first time
since winter and passenger side is blowing hot air again.

Chrysler did a big recall on the HVAC controller in 2016. I'd make sure your 2015 was updated at that time, because it was an extensive recall that involved both hardware and software, with a warranty on the recall work. It was to address the many complaints and problems about the HVAC controller over the years. Any Dodge Dealer can easily look up your VIN and access the database to see if your van was reworked, and if it was, is it still covered under that rework warranty.

Sounds like rework R62 (Canada) done on my 2015. Describes the process the Dealer did exactly. This was no trivial rework, specifically addressing 2014 - 2015 models, and I would encourage anyone with any issues with their HVAC module to follow it up. Chrysler typically understates the severity of a problem in their recall notices, as evidenced by the amount of work they did on my 2015, which was extensive as the TSB indicates.
It's ashame because I have a 2016 that was manufactured in 10-2015 so I believe I fall outside of warranty, and my AC is blowing hot out of passenger side vent too. Wonder if they would still cover it? Probably not, right?
I also have a 2015 blowing hot air in the back of the vehicle. I called Dodge and they stated my VIN wasn't included (?) ... as I type this I'm sitting at the dealership to get a quote to fix it.
