2015 toyota avalon limited

I have a 20145 toyota avalon limited with 50,000 miles on it and the lock on the tilt on the steering wheel is vibrating loose while driving it.  The dealership is telling me this is a non wear item and I have to replace the complete steering column assembly.  This is crazy.  welcome any input.  Non wear item should not fail like this.

Toyota had a recall on this mechanism in Avalon's from 2009-2012. Mine is a 2015 and apparently their redesign did not solve the problem. I tried different positions etc... no improvement, no damage to the lever, no hard hit etc... Just a poor design and poor correction to a poor design. New column labor and parts is $1500 for a dealer to repair. This was my 2nd Avalon, but never again. Really disappointed in toyota over this.
