Slow acceleration
Hello,
I am looking at purchasing a 2015 Camry LE. I’ve
been test driving certified pre-owned cars from
several dealers. I found one car I especially liked it
had the upgraded electronic instrument panel (not
analog) and new firestone affinity tires. Had 32k
miles. I thought the car was quick and responsive.
Steering felt real easy. The power is what I
noticed...seemed to easily get up to speed and
never had to throttle or downshift to get oomph. It’s
wasnt fast (have a v6 Accord xle 2008) but I never
noticed anything lacking...for instance when letting
off gas, there wasn’t an obvious slow down or
resistance. Today I drove several others from a
difference dealer. Found a really clean car same
year with only 11,000 miles. Looked untouched
even under the hood. Driving this one and the
others felt noticeably different. The steering was
stiffer or firmer. Brakes were smoother. But I noticed
a more sluggish acceleration in these cars with
under 15k miles. Especially in the super clean one
with 11k. So, here my question...I love the super
clean 15 Camry LE with fewer miles. But the other
car drove much quicker to me and was fun. Is there
any reason why there could be such a difference in
steering, cornering and acceleration between these
cars of the same year? I’ve done some research
and other than the multifunctional display they
appear to have the same engine. The only other
obvious difference was the 3 year old Michelin
energy saver tires on the low mile car that was
sluggish. I’m just concerned there’s some
mechanical issue or maybe this one got the ‘14
engine? The car fax showed ‘damage’ but no
accident a few years back but being that’s it’s in
such good condition otherwise (is local lease) and a
certified vehicle it doesn’t seem likely something
major could be wrong with it. The engine might
have been just a hint more obvious at idle but could
be in my head. But it’s just killing me trying to figure
out why I don’t like driving this one but it’s a much
nicer car overall and a good deal. Could the tires
make a huge difference? My wife noticed too so
isn’t just in my head. Keep in mind that it’s not like it
doesn’t drive nicely. It does. Just lost it’s
oomph...any thoughts????
