vin numbers that were changed

Your state's DMV office would frown on that I think. How and why was it changed?
Is this a situation where the title was lost, nobody knew where to find the original VIN on the vehicle because it was made before 1968 and not visible through the windshield, so the State DMV assigned a new VIN? If so, I'd leave it alone. Trying to wade through the DMV red tape will be a nightmare. This will surely be compounded by the fact that you'll be dealing with a bunch of idiots at the Motor Vehicle Agency who are 20 years old and think that every vehicle ever made had a 17 character VIN! If you do decide to proceed with this, I would highly recommend running the original VIN through the NCIB Database and see if the vehicle was ever reported stolen! NCIB has records going back to 1967 when they first opened. It's a free search. Hope that helps! Jim
