unlike citywide1 over there, i have an answer for you, my 99 lincoln navigator (basicly the same vehicle) had two alternaters in one month time, turns out it was my battery wires and that little wire near the starter relay if that don't help try adding a "bridge" from the ground on the start side to the body of the vehicle, if no results get back to me and i will help you further

Ihave done an ohm test on mega fuse. i have checked the field fuse. i have checked the din plug going into back of generator only the gn and red wire had power. All 3 alternators tested 14 to16 volts at auto zone but on my vehicle only 12.3 output
another thing was the alternator itself had a low ground connection try pulling it off and cleaning the mount, and on the back of the alternator there should be a metal bracket that bonds it to the intake make sure that is there. so basically target the grounding circuit. if its not grounding replace your battery wires. (both positive and negative). so if your still having problems just reply below and i will continue to help.
