Rubbing/hissing noise

Asked by M Jul 04, 2018 at 03:06 PM about the 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

-Noise occurs when accelerating from a stopped position,
only when accelerating, never when braking or idle.
-Noise occurs only when car is in gear (hitting the gas
pedal in park does not cause the noise to happen)

Does it do it "in Gear" while the car is moving, or are you holding down the brakes when it happens?

I have the same noise on a 2013 manual 2.2 d .noticed it at 35k miles with windows open driving in enclosed places .low speed only when you put the power on.Seems to be once a revolution scuff ie driveline .Have replaced all brake parts and serpentine belt idlers still no joy.up to 40 k miles and no worse .considering going on a rolling road but not sure if you can with a 4x4 .Owned the car from new so know its history. Its baffling me .Drives well and no vibrations.wondering if its a tyre as they are still the originals.

I am having the same problem with my 2017 Santa fe I keep getting this hissing noise that comes and goes. I took it to the dealer they couldn't figure it out they checked the belts wheel bearings brakes tires and they got nothing. Its really annoying and almost embarrassing having a new car with this sound. At this point I'm ready to try a regular mechanic shop to see if they could figure it out.

I have the same problem with my 2014 Sante Fe limited. Same Hissing sound when accelerating. Took it to the Dealership while it was still under warranty. They looked at the front brakes thinking it was the calipers, nope. Than they replaced the front right wheel bearing, replaced the exhaust, and finally replaced the transfer case. The sound went away for about two months and came right back. Took it to the dealership again, but the warranty is now expired. Hyundai says they can’t hear anything. Drove the with tech and the sound was gone again. Brought the car home, sound is back and won’t go away. After having the vehicle at the dealership for over a month and letting them put over 150 miles on the car I gave up. Driving around with the terrible noise, pretty embarrassing! Will be the last the Hyundai I ever buy!

Hello Guru73G8P, do you have a link for the TSB? I'm experiencing the same issue on my 2013 Santa Fe. I've already brought it to the dealer and it wasn't resolved. I'd like to be able to provide the TSB to them. Much appreciated!

I'm having the the same problem vibration and knocking, I have noticed is only when the car is cold. Once the car(not the engine) the other parts warm up it stops. I when twice to the dealer (I'm waiting for 3th booking) they can't find where is coming from. Definitely is not the brake pads, wheel bearing disks, is not CV joint as well. I think is something on the drive shaft or the gear box.
