How to hook up trailer lights to a 1994 GMC Jimmy

You'll need to do it the standard way by splicing in a 4 pin harness to your tail light wiring, or 7 pin (and brake controller) if you're planning on running an electric brake trailer. A basic test light or multimeter will simplify the process for you, I would avoid using quick splice connectors as pictured, although quick and convenient they are not secure or weather resistant even when taped. I would cut, strip, slip heatshrink tubing on, splice then solder, use liquid electrical tape, skrink heatshrink tubing then seal ends with more liquid electrical tape then i would wrap the whole bundle with regular electrical tape. With wiring exposed to the elements overkill is the only way to roll!
