EPC and Check Engine Light

Asked by GuruLS89K Apr 09, 2019 at 04:16 PM about the 2015 Volkswagen Passat 1.8T Limited Edition FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2015 Passat with 12K miles which I just bought has some issues not sure
what it is, here is what happened, after driving just 200 miles while on 75
MPH speed EPC light came then check engine light. I turned of engine
immediately and started again, EPC light went away check engine light
remained.

Took it to the mechanic, mechanic said that car was sitting long and they
replaced it with new battery, so pretty much all codes were showing up in
diagnosis, so they reset the check engine light and gave the car to me,
saying this should not happen again.

As soon as I got on the road with rough acceleration and at around 60 MPH
speed EPC light and check engine light came again.

Need help, please share your expertise.

Epc light is almost never the throttle body.. change your spark plugs and wires.. usually a bad connection to the spark plug that makes epc light pop on
