Can I use a wheel with an offset of 50 or 48 when the dealership said my car needs a 51?

I have an x1 2016 with 19" run flat summer tires. I want to switch over to 18"
winter tires but I am having trouble finding wheels with a 51 offset. How much
does it matter to switch to a 50 or even 48 off set?

I cannot imagine that a difference of 1 to 3mm would be significant. 3mm is less than an 1/8". 1 mm is 1/25 of an inch.

You will be fine, buy the tire that are available...

Thank you! Im just reading more about it now and understand that 3mm is not that big of a deal as the dealer made it out to be.
