Question type: Maintenance & Repair
No clock or date. 2016 KIA Optima SXL clock
showed a date 6 months ago and wrong time three
days ago. Now the clock and date do not show at
all. Called a local dealer- no clue! Unable to
update the clock in the settings menu as all clock
options are grayed out. Frustrating

Update the software going in the settings. will take 10 to 15 minutes; system will prompt that it is same version, ignore the prompt and update anyway. Just got mine fixed right after the update Tested on Kia sorrento 2016 SX
Try disconnecting your 12v battery for about 2 min. I tried a system reset to no avial, but battery disconnection and reconnecting - everything works again! Many have this problem mid-August...
Find the question "date and time" on this forum, over 100 posts in the past 3 days. In a word it seems to be a satellite problem; perhaps related to an update, perhaps something else. Optima, Soul, Sorento and Niro owners have rung in on this. I got my Niro clock back by hitting the reset button (see picture) with a ballpoint pen. Some have reported success by disconnecting the battery for several minutes - this could prove difficult to do with a hybrid. If the reset button doesn't work, consider turning off the main fusebox switch, located in the center of the fuse box, for 10 minutes. Pulling the MultiMedia fuse for 30 seconds did not fix the problem for me.
I am having the same issue same. Just started about 3 days ago
Same here, mine went haywire yesterday. Exactly the same problems.
Strange how I'm having the same issue with my clock all of a sudden it disappeared can anyone help ?
Same here. And GPS/navigation (that I use daily) is not accurate either. I need this fixed ASAP. Settings are all grayed out.
Was having the same problem.... just hit the reset button with a ball point pen and now the date and time are back!
this is crazy...I searched for this issue over the weekend and got nothing, then all of a sudden...a bunch of messages! I'll try the reset button tonight. The Kia dealership didn't know what I was talking about! Guess they'll get an influx soon.
Same here.. Friday it Read Feb 2nd and today no reading at all. I have a 2015 Optima Ex Thanks for the feed back here. I hope it is an easy fix.

Frank, I have the exact same system as you have. I was having the same issue on my 2016 Optima Hybrid of the clock not working and unable to set it. I have the Premium UVo system in mine. I did as someone else had mentioned and did the update. It stated it was already using that version, I ignored it and did the update anyway. It resolved all problems I was having with it. From what I could tell while watching everything that was going on during the update, it is basically rebooting the UVo system. I am not saying this will work for everyone who has the Premium UVo system, but it resolved my issue. I wish everyone the best with this.
AliBajwa was right! I had the same issue for the past 3 days. I updated the software, even though it said I had the current version, and it fixed it. It took about 15 minutes but all is well now :)
Where do you update the software on the Optima SXL?

I have a 2016 Kia Optima Hybrid. Had the same date time problem. I tried the system reset, removed the SD card, ran the diagnostic, and nothing seemed to work. While messing around with the settings in the clock, I simps turned off the GPS clock and then went to set the date and time, but before I could, it was automatically set. I went back to the clock settings and turned on the GPS time and the date and time remained on my display.

@Frank... FYI the reset button should be on the right side of your CD slot. looks like the CD eject button with a small dot on it.
No reset button on 2015 SXL Optima that I can see
Never mind. Found it next to the CD player as tmriver82 suggested. It worked. Thanks!
@ Frank Yes, I have the same system. Black button to the right of CD area..... it has a smaller black circle- use a ballpoint pen and reset it- it worked for me! Thanks everyone who suggested this!

I find it very strange that KIA has not put out any information on this. I called my dealer and was told they don't know what to do! Good lord; this is an international firm. Fire your director of communications!! This has been going on (for me) since Saturday morning.
I have a 2016 Optima ex. The reset hole is in the port where you put the map sd card, right above the sd. Stuck the end of a paperclip in the hole, just make sure you aren't in a garage. Worked for me, good luck folks! Would have been nice if Kia notified its customers but I'm grateful for this community!
I have a 2016 Kia Optima and up until now nothing worked. I just pulled the GPS card out and that forces a restart of the multimedia system when you put it back in and this time it worked. Date and time correct. I hope it lasts
Having the same clock issue for the past three days. Read some of these answers, then ran some by my auto mechanic. He said to just undo the negative battery terminal for a few minutes, then hook it back up again. Not the positive one as that can mess with some of the newer cars electronics. It worked, the clock is back on and the problem appears to be solved.
Same problem on 2015 Optima. I went with the easiest fix of the ones I read and tried the reset button with a ballpoint pen. Took three tries but it worked. Thanks for everyone’s input.
We have a 2016 Optima SXL Turbo. Lost the Date and Clock setting as well . I used the reset button to get it back on. It took 3 tries of the Reset Button but works now. The reset button is located just above the SD. SD card is under the little cover right of the main Screen. I used my driver's license to pop the cover off. Hope this information helps.
