I called Hyundai today for that same reason. They are aware of the issue. It’s canada wide and a solution should be in place in a couple of days I was told.

I simply went to setup and connected my phone to my wife's tucson - and it fixed the issue. or it was because I turned wifi on and connected to my home net.... weird.

Big yellow On/Off switch did the trick! Thank you for the suggestion! Simple enough - Turn car off, move switch to Off, then On - start car and voila!

This is happening in the Kia Souls as well. 1. Start with the radio OFF. 2. Take out the SD card 3. Start the radio and wait. 4. There will be a notice there is no SD card inserted or something similar. Wait. 5. It then should say it is changing the display, that is the key. It should change the display showing no navigation and the clock should return at that point. 6. Turn off the radio. 7. Insert the SD card 8. Start the radio and all should be ok after it gets loaded again. This fix has helped numerous people on the KiaSoul Forums...apparently Kia is aware of it and will be issuing a service bulletin. Hmmm, not even y2K. I suggest you be parked where there is good satellite signal as this did not help my Soul, but she was in a carport so satellite signal is not available. I will try tomorrow when a strong signal is available. Am glad to see lots of this happening with others as I know it is not my head unit.

I have a 2017 Tuscan Limited. My clock disappeared 2 days ago. It is very strange that they are all doing the same thing with no explanation from Hyundai.

My clock also disappeared a few days ago (Texas). Glad I'm not crazy.

Kia says the problem is on their end with the satellite. They are working on it and the problem should be resolved on Friday. Dealer knew their was a problem. I just called and asked them how their clocks were working...LOL So I suspect Hyundai shares the satellite ... NO WORRY!

I did the fuse box and it has not come back, do I wait a certain period of time?

Try Sandy_Soul’s steps. I followed it to the letter, waited about a minute after the final step & my clock & date are restored~Tucson 2017

Wed, 8-21-2019, 2:30pm MST. 2017 Tuscon 1.6l Ultra Limited AWD. A couple of days ago, same thing, just --:-- for the clock. Found the on/off switch as above lower by left leg, drivers seat in the INTERIOR fuse panel (not to be confused with the fuse box under the hood, don't mess with that one). Tried various scenarios with the on/off, turn car off, open door to kill electronics, open fuse panel, off, then back on, start car, turn display off, on, etc..... all no help, and did not want to cycle switch when anything was powered,,,, as to not fry something from surge. In the end, I tried the other suggestion the person used on the kia, even though this is a Tuscon, and I wanted to force ther GPS tables and time software tables to RELOAD....... So I did this...... car off.... open car door to kill radio and electronics.... take off little 2" wide plastic cover that says SD MAP under your seek and track radio buttons in your dash...... push in and release to make the sd card pop out. Remove sd card. Restart car WITHOUT the sd card and let it run for 2 minutes.... now turn car OFF..... open car door..... reinsert sd card.. start car, and all of the Nav tables, GPS tables, etc, will RELOAD...... , took 2 or 3 minutes, then everything was back to normal... and the CLOCK was working again!. Hope that helps.....:)

I have a 2015 Hyundai Genesis. I have done the system update, the pinhole rest button on the media dash, the fuse box on/off, and the SD card reset. So far no luck. that I just have to wait till Friday and try again. Also wondering if this is why my traffic info on navigation map hasn't been working

I'm having the same issue with my Tucson 2017 here in Canada. I've tried the trick explained by Knecker but unfortunately, it didn't work. I'll call the Hyundai dealer to book an appointment

Hyundai released service bulletin. Issue is with the satellite the GPS connects to. They are working on and stare DO NOT DO ANY OF THE ABOVE!! Hundreds of thousands of cars are affected. They are hoping to resolve in the next few days. So just deal with it for now as since it's affecting that many cars they will fix at no cost if it comes to that!! Doing any of the above people have suggested can damage other systems and that WILL be out of YOUR pocket.. So chill people it's not enough to stress over.. Breathe..lol

Thank you Knecker. Just did the following and all fixed: So I did this...... car off.... open car door to kill radio and electronics.... take off little 2" wide plastic cover that says SD MAP under your seek and track radio buttons in your dash...... push in and release to make the sd card pop out.

Hi, its knecker again. You can see my fix above, and I will explain a bit more. I own the 2017 Tucson. I didn't mention it, but our daughter has a 2016 Tucson, so I looked at her car, and sure enough, same thing, so I performed the same procedure, above with the car PARKED OUTSIDE in view of satellites, and 2-3 minutes later, VIOLA,,,, fixed that one as well. Reloading the SD Card, WILL NOT damage your vehicle in any way. I am an engineer, and have been working on software, (linux, unix, etc.) as well as sensitive Aircraft electronics for 35+ yrs. What I suspect is happening here, is the dedicated satellite LOST all of the mac addresses (or reg id) to all of the current vehicles it was talking to. (hundreds of thousands)..... Kia, Tuscon, etc., engineers, wil try to build a software script that will force reregistraion, or have to load a saved backup that had everyone's old registration id in it...... BUUTTTTTT. herein lies the problem,,,,,, in working issues like these for decades now, I understand that will not, CANNOT always fix the issue,,,, many times, you have to initiate the software request (the handshake) from the end unit that is trying to register... (in this case, the Tuscons GPS reciever, ECU Software...!) It is not an issue with our cars, mine, my daughters, and everyone elses proved that to me..... it is a satellite registration issue, and when you reload your SD Card, one of the initialization steps, is to go out and register with the satellite...! That's why this is working for people. Now,,, the explanation above is generic, and common terms we use, and methods in various software, phones, computers, etc.,,, it may not be spot on for their handshaking technology, but suffice it to say,,,,,, you just need to make yours cars system REREGISTER with the satellite, and know that the engineers may NOT be able to fully fix it on their end,,,, more than likely, all of the cars will need to be forced to initiate the request from the vehicles end, using the above procedure, or something similar. It did not change any of my settings etc., or my daughter's. So try it, in view of the sky..... and wait a few minutes for it to register, or chance waiting at the dealer for hours, and have them tell you they reset your whole car back to factory...... Hope that explains things a bit further...:)

One more note,,,, in reply to further questions,,, this scenario is similar to you buying a new laptop, or getting a new phone, and bringing it home.... your wifi network does not know that device EXISTS, until you register it, and connect it to your wifi, and this happens by initiating that request FROM your new laptop, cell phone, alexa puck, thermostat, printer, etc. This is no different, and unless they reload a software backup to the satellite with all of the preregistered cars in it, your vehicle cannot re- register to it, as the satellite doesn't know it even exists,,,,, like your wifi and a laptop. Not until, it is FIRST initiated from the end unit,,, ie.. laptop or vehicle.......

The big yellow off/on switch in the middle of the fuse box did the trick on our 2017 Santa Fe Sport. Turned it off, then back on. Started the car and clock display was back!

I am not a software or hardware engineer but in my 20 years of working closely with them, Knecker's explanation sounds very reasonable. The same thing is happening with my 2016 Sonata. I tried his "trick" but it did not work. As he said there are variables soit may not work for everyone. I will try again as I see some people had to do it multiple times. Or I will wait for Hyundai to come up with a fix, it's not that critical to me.

I did what Matt said but at first I turned the vehicle off and it didn't work. I then tried the yellow off/on switch while the vehicle was running and presto the clock and date are back. @Matt, a huge thank you !! Your solution was perfect !!

Thanks, KTShaw123! I followed your directions it is reset my clock and date! Problem averted with no cost!!

10

Nope. Tried both fuse cut off and sd card removal a number of times. Both did not work. Will wait a few days to see if Hyundai can fix on their end. If not, guess I’m going to the dealer.

I too did what Knecker recommended and the clock display came back and is now working like before! None of the other suggestions worked in my case. I advise just like Knecker instructed, after you take the SD card out make sure to let the car run for at least 2- 3 minutes BEFORE turning the engine off and re-inserting the SD card and re-starting the engine. It did not work the first time I tried ...I must have been a little impatient and did not wait long enough. Thanks, Knecker! You saved me the trouble of calling my Hyundai dealer and the time I would have waisted taking my car in for service!!!

I have not tried it yet but the service department at my Hyundai dealer said 2 have your car sitting in the open where can receive GPS. Then press the reset button with a paperclip it's by the radio or it's where the SD card is. They said that it was a software update that had a glitch in it

2 people found this helpful.

OK, have a 2017 Tucson with the same issue. Tried the fixes in the comments above with no success. Moved the car out of the garage so it has good satellite reception. Turned the engine off. Flipped the switch in the fuse box to the OFF position and removed the SD card. Let it sit for about five minutes. Flipped the switch back to ON and reinserted the SD card. Turned on the engine and after the SD card was recognized, THE CLOCK AND DATE WORKED!

190

It was a software glitch when Hyundai & Kia updated their software. They got the software fixed and so clocks should appear after doing a head unit reset (reset button) or taking the SD card out and putting it back in (reboots the GPS) or disconnecting fuse... Best solution is reset button if clock does not come on by itself.

I had this same problem with my 2017 Santa Fe Sport clock for the past several days, no time displaying, just dash marks. I followed the instructions noted on this site which is, remove SD card and hit the reset button. I tried it a few times but it failed to work. I phoned my local Hyundai dealer to set up an appointment but they were swamped with bookings for this identical problem. I got lucky in so much as the adviser I spoke with on the phone pulled up the Service Bulletin dealing with this problem as she had booked several of the appointments. She read it off to me and the only instruction not listed in these answers posted on this site was to REMOVE THE MULTIMEDIA FUSE, keep it out for a couple minutes then put it back in place, push the reset button on the side of the CD slot and the clock should work. I tried that in my underground garage last night and it didn't seem to work, but as soon as I drove outside today and the vehicle connected to the GPS satellite my clock was back up and running. So instead of waiting a a dealership for hours if you have this problem you might want to try removing this fuse for few minutes and then do a reset. Hopefully this will work for you as well.

I'm happy to say I tried that trick of removing the memory card again today and it finally worked! I tried and tried the other day and it didn't work.

On my 2016 Tuscon about 2 days before I lost the clock display completely, I noticed that the time and date were wrong and went to clock setup to manually correct this. It allowed me to put the correct time and date in and that worked. The next time I started the car was a few days later and once again the display was gone. This time I could not use any of the buttons in the manual set up screen so I assumed it was a fuse problem. I looked everywhere to find the correct fuse but could not find anything labled "clock". That led me to an internet search for the fuse where I accidently found this page. I followed the instructions from Knecker and the clock display returned with correct date and time. I took the SD card out and started the car and set a timer for 2 minutes. When the timer went off I turned the engine off and put the SD card back and then started the engine again. It worked perfectly the first time I tried ... Thanks, Knecker! P.S. I am still wondering what fuse would be the one to replace for the clock as nothing in my car manual shows this.

30

If it's like my 2017 Santa Fe Sport it's the Multi Media fuse which the Hyundai service adviser told me to remove for a couple minutes, then replace it and hit the reset which did the trick for me.

I too, have a 2017 Tucson Luxury (In Canada) with the same issue. Tried the fixes in the comments above with no success. Turned the engine off/powered down. Flipped the switch in the fuse box to the OFF position. Let it sit for about 3 minutes. Flipped the switch back to ON. Turned on the engine and after the SD card was recognized, The clock AND DATE WORKED!. Thanks for the "fix". Also, today, I connected my Google Pixel 2 XL to the cradle Abbas was promoted to Update Android Auto by disconnecting from cradle and reconnecting (unplug/replug) and now have a new Android Auto screen.

Guru1WJ6F, your post is about as bright as our president when it comes to common sense and knowledge of tech which is not too bright! It was Kia/Hyundai GPS software update, not a Tucson problem. Duh!!!

1 people found this helpful.

Had the same issue since about 8/21/19, around Memphis. 2017 Tucson with about 30K miles. Pulled car out of garage turned it off and cycled on/off switch on fuse panel. The clock did not reset. I started the car and cycled the on/off switch on the fuse panel with the vehicle running and the clock reset. Just the sequence that worked for me.

10

Knecker's fix worked perfectly fine! Many thanks for sharing it. TWO VERY IMPORTANT THINGS THOUGH: 1. Your car have to be OUTSIDE. It didn't work the first time I was in my garage (concrete condo building) 2. Keep trying a couple of times. It worked on my second attempt, not the first one

Im not sure how many of you are having such luck. I just sat outside of my house in the wide open street and did Knecker's process step by step 4 times and still nothing. The clock remains at --:-- and when I go into the Clock settings it entirely grayed out and locked on the GPS option and nothing can be done. Again I have tried SD card in and out, car on and off, the big switch under the dash with car on and off, pushed the reset button with the car on and off, radio on and off, with the SD card in and out, and pulled the multimedia fuse, and pulled the negative battery cable as well. Going on almost 2 weeks with what seems like every option tried and some people have it as simple as pulling the SD card then reinserting. Nothing has worked for me at all. All steps and options have been done in an open space with clear view of the sky. The time on the Navigation works (showing what time I would get to a destination) but the clock itself is frozen and locked/grayed out and no options have become alive. So timer on the Nav works but no clock function at all.

I did exactly what the guy did who hooked up his phone to wife's Tucson, I disconnected my phone, turned off my internet and the clock popped back on again! I'm with him......weird! But it works!

10

I had trouble initially, but here's the exact steps I did: 1. Move the car outside the garage so it has direct line of sight with GPS satellites. 2. Go to Setup, Navigation, GPS Information. 3. Note the Date shows 12/31/1969 with a wrong time of 3PM. 4. Open Fuse box by left leg near steering wheel. 5. Flip the Fuse Switch off then on rapidly to reboot the touch screen. 6. Navigate to Setup, Clock. 7. Wait 30 seconds for a new GPS fix with date time info. 8. Clock should update.

I had to hit the tiny reset button that is to the left of the card reader to get the click back. I had the same card out and the car was connected to my home wifi. I hit reset and it restarted. After starting, I saw some wifi activity and then my click appeared. Stuck the card back in and I was all set. You

I’ve tried every single thing listed below for my 2016 veloster & no luck :( the only thing I have no done is the fuse because mine doesn’t have a switch, just squares that I can’t get to slide.

I have a 2016 Hyundai Tucson. My clock display disappeared almost a month ago. Out of nowhere it reappeared today, September 11, 2019, at approximately 3:00 PM EDT. Hope all of yours is working again, too.

Mine is still not working. Any updates from Hyundai directly please? Did it suddenly starder working for anyone? I have an AWD Tuson 2016. Thank you

Guru1Q2RN - I had to hit the tiny reset button that is to the left of the card reader to get the clock back. I had the memory card out and the car was connected to my home wifi. I hit reset and it restarted. After starting, I saw some wifi activity and then my clock appeared. Stuck the card back in and I was all set

In my 2016 tucson, I turned off the yellow switch with display on in ACC position. When I turned yellow switch back on, the clock display appeared. Thanks

HI I have a 2016 Hyundai Tucson with the same problem with the clock...…..the right way to fix is. 1) With the car off, remove the SD Card 2) With the SD Card removed, take you vehicle for a ride 3) While the vehicle is running, insert the SD Card and keep running 4) This will fix the clock problem. 5) It worked for me. 6) you have to take your vehicle for a drive so you GPS system get good signal.

My 2016 Tucson Limited needed a complete new radio. All the kings horses and all the Kings men could not repair the display for my date and time. It had no dashes or dots for either. Total replacement. It works now. Bit I had to pay to transfer Sirius XM radio though

Thanks for all of the guidance on this fix! Fuse switch on and off didn't work in my 2017 Elantra limited but removing the SD card did. Never would have figured that out on my own!!!

My 2016 Tucson has not had a working clock since late August 2019. After being told it was a satellite problem from the dealer, I called yesterday for an update from the dealership. They explained that I needed to pay $175 to update my map that requires a new SD card and that would fix my clock. The problems just continue with this vehicle.

@leesoli - Have you tried the rest button and /or the power switch in the fuse box? Those methods seem to work. For me, I removed the SD card, hit the reset switch, and then waited 5 minutes or so before reinserting the card. I also had the car hooked to my home wifi on the off-chance it would reach out to the internet to update something.
