What kind of transmission? I am not sure that is a correct transmission number. http://www.camaros.org/drivetrain.shtml#trans
I believe that number is known as the source serial number. http://www.nastyz28.com/chevy-transmission-identification.php
Any idea why the transmission number 634278 does not agree with the vin and engine ............... 634478

I had a '69 Pace Car back in the 80's. The trans stamp number DID match the VIN. I suspect yours doesn't have the original trans. Just a similar number. Although I've heard of stranger things coming out of the assembly plant.

My pace car has a similar mis-stamp. My last 6 numbers are 11036. Motor and trans are original. Motor is 11036 but transmission is 11086. I believe someone forgot their glasses that day.
