I have a 2001 ford mustang gt convertible when i looked under the hood, it looks to me like a dohc motor. From what i've read the cobra's the only one with the dohc motor. Is it possible that Ford may have put some of these engines in the GT's?

Dear 01daddystang-- I can find no indication of any 2001 Mustang GTs with a DOHC engine. They were reserved for the Cobras until 2003, when the special edition Mach 1 came equipped with the DOHC engine modeled after the earlier Cobras. Good luck from Bovan.
the only mustangs that came in dohc were the 99-01 cobras 03-04 cobras and mach 1's
the dohc doesnt really matter that much it makes more power but if you want to swap the cams you have to buy 4 instead of 2 so its double the price a good set of cams for dohc can set you back about 1200 to 1500$ if your just running a stock motor and dont plan on doing that then it matters
if its a GT its the same 4.6l SOHC 2V V8 they have been putting in the GT from 1996 to 2004 (yeah yeah theres some minor differences...)
