2001 Mustang V6 runs fine for a while then acts up.

Asked by Jesse Mar 03, 2018 at 04:04 PM about the 2001 Ford Mustang Coupe RWD

Question type: General

I’m a college student so I do a bit of driving from home to
school since I only live an hour away. Most of the time my
car runs fine, but towards the end of my hour and a half
long trips it occasionally acts up. The RPM stays at 2500
and gives no additional power as I press the gas down
farther until I’m basically floorin it, then it will finally go
higher than 2500 and gain speed. Other times the car will
start hesitating a bit and sound like it’s about to stall. Both
of these problems are fixed after I shut the vehicle off for 5
minutes though. Any idea what it could be?

Is the check engine light on? when was the last time you did a tuneup and filter change?
