Is it worth it?

Just to get it driving with a used engine and wheels would take a minimum of several thousand dollars if you could do the work yourself. I would strongly suggest that you keep looking. These cars are not all that rare.

The 1983 Turbo's could be had with a 5 speed which is a lot more fun than an automatic. I know I used to have one!

I don't know how it works in other States, but in Calif if you take the VIN to the DMV and tell them you want to claim the car, the DMV (for a fee) will send a certified/registered letter to the last known owner and if there is no response in 30 days you can lien the car, then after another 30 days claim it as your own. But you will have to spend thousands upon thousands of $$ to get it road-worthy. How many thousands is impossible to say, electrical systems, (lighting) hopefully frame not warped, you will have to have a near unlimited budget. Brakes, engine, trans and so many unknowns. Offer $50 for it, nobody will pay $300. Or even offer to just take it off his hands

With a bill of sale you can get a new title but it can be a pain. I have not done that in years but it is possible. If the car was registered within the last ten years you could end up owing thousands of dollars in back fees and penalties though!

There are two on Car Gurus for sale right now. Not turbos but running cars for far less than it would take to even get that shell driving.
