Some vehicles like my 2000 VW Jetta have a sensor that when the rpm drop, ie: a/c on, headlights on, etc that tell the computer to raise the rpm to compensate for the extra engine power used for the accessories. I would check the throttle position sensor and the idle/air mixture valve. If those check out then have the a/c compressor checked.
