2016 Mercedes E250 Bluetec is being destroyed by rodents!!!
My dad recently purchased a certified per-owned 2016 Mercedes Bluetec. About a week or so after bring the car home we came out to the garage one morning to leave, and after starting the engine it sounded like somthing was grinding under the hood. So I had my dad turn off the engine and we popped the hood. Next we saw an enormous amount of torn up rags and other fabrics strewn about the engine bay where rats had apparently tried making a nest.; This event took place during g the winter, so the rats were loooking for a warm shelter. Long story short, when we cleaned all the mess up and re-started the car the check engine light had now popped on! So my dad took it to the dealership where they ran some tests on it and discovered that the rodents had chewed up part of an O2 sensor. Many $$ later we bring thye car home and not even three days later the check engine light is on again! We did some brief research and found out that apparently on certain year models of Mercedes they used soy-based wiring covers for environmental reasons! So they think the wiring covers are food. basically and neither one of us has a clue how to stop this. Just thought you might know of a simple trick or method to prevent rats from invading your engine bay.
