1992 gmc Jimmy wont stay running

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 1992 gmc jimmy with the 4.3 v6 TBI will start on
starting fluid and idle but dies after about 30
seconds. We have replaced the fuel pump and filter
and fuel pressure regulator. could it be the ICM?

It's possible but I'd go after the smaller items first like the ignition coil (could be breaking down with heat) and coolant temp sensor (could be giving a false reading). The catalytic converter could be plugging up once warm, the egr could not be closing all the way ect. Ect. Theres just so many possible causes. So it wont start up (or attemp to) without starting fluid?

yes it needs start fluid to get going but it will run on its own for 30 seconds or so then the injectors stop and it dies.
