2016 F-150 DOOR LOCKS

Asked by Davidr9632 Dec 13, 2019 at 09:05 AM about the 2016 Ford F-150 XL

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

This is key lock only, non electronic. If you insert the key and turn the button pops up as it should. But the key has to be removed before opening the door. When the key is removed the button drops back down and relocks the door

Is the button flopping down when the key is removed, or does it flop down when the key is returned back to the upright position for removal?

Enter the vehicle from the passenger side. Pull on the handle to open the affected door. If the button pops up and stays up, the problem is probably within the key cylinder itself. If the car is still under warranty, bring it to the dealership. You can also try using powdered graphite in the lock. NO liquid stuff like WF 40, graphite only.
