Service Brake Assist

Asked by Medford Jan 08, 2024 at 10:15 AM about the 2016 Buick Encore FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Message comes up on display screen
“Service Brake Assist “
Brake pedal not hard when checking
when this happens. Checked vacuum
hose that goes into intake manifold
and no leak. Looked on YouTube for
brake assist vacuum pump and only
shows the 1.4L engine for Cruz cars
which is different than Encore 2015.
There is not a vacuum pump on side
Encore engine like the Cruz. Where is
the vacuum pump or is there one on
the Encore .

Is there a concern when the message
displays or is just a electronic error or
what is happening?

You may have a problem with the sensor on the brake booster.
