2001 Ford Ranger XLT 4.0 6cyl. 4wd automatic

Asked by WVyeti Apr 14, 2020 at 04:28 PM about the 2001 Ford Ranger XLT 2 Door SuperCab Flareside RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The truck battery will not hold charge and requires
being jumped to start mostly every time.
Starter, Solenoid, Alternator, and Battery are all
new!
Series of events...
Turn key over battery makes dying clicking noise.
Get jump box and jump it.
Truck starts and runs fine for unlimited miles.
Shut off.
If restart immediately, it’ll start but sluggishly.
After any period of time, won’t start and battery
makes same dying clicking noise.
Have traced every wire I can trace and no lose ends
or breaks.
Driving me insane!

You have a parasitic battery drain. See this post on how to test for a bttery drain. https://ricksfreeautorepairadvice.com/battery-dead-morning/

Every place I take it to says battery... how the f*^% can it be the battery if it’s new?
