It looks like you have tried pushing on the exterior “key button” to open the trunk and that has not worked for you. Have you tried one of the other ways to open the trunk? As you probably know, there are three ways to open the trunk lid. 1) Push and hold down the button on the center right of your key fob until the trunk clicks open; 2) Push on the (trunk opening) rocker switch just forward of the center console or 3) Use the exterior push button just below the lower lip of the trunk lid. If the vehicles battery is dead, the key fob battery is dead or the fob is broken #1 above will not work to open the trunk. If the vehicles battery is dead #2 will not work either. If pushing the exterior button does not work (#3) then perhaps the trunk is manually locked. To unlock the trunk, insert the key and rotate it counter-clockwise until it reaches the stop, then, with the key still inserted, push in the button. Page 38 of the Owner’s Manual for my 2001 SL500 explains the operation of the “key button”. That explanation may be on a different page in the manual for your car.
