Ford taurus cruise stuck on?

Asked by Newtaurusguy Jul 01, 2016 at 05:10 PM about the 2002 Ford Taurus SES Deluxe

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hi I have a 2002 ford taurus with the 3.0 dohc. The
car idles fine, it revs to about 2500 on start and the
drops down. My real issue is that above 25mph, if
you take your foot off the gas, the car maintains
speed and rpms, sometimes for mile. I removed
the cruise control fuse, it also controls the brake
lights, and still had the problem? Any ideas?

It is not the cruise control try cleaning the throttle body with throttle body cleaner sounds like the throttle is sticking from carbon build up.
