Car will start, but won’t move
2005 Honda Accord lx 5 speed manual 98k on mileage
Car RPM’s jumps up and down while steadily driving 60mph in 5 fifth gear
the other day. Kept driving another 5 mins and out of nowhere lost all
acceleration. Pulled over, car will start but won’t move.
Have some mechanical background, just not too confident as this may be a
big issue. Assuming first troubleshooting steps, tow car home, inspect
fluids, clutch linkage, cleaned or replaced slave cylinder and master cylinder,
and everything is as should be. But car still won’t move. While on jack
stands, and engine was running, I noticed that front tires are slowly steadily
spinning.
I assume possible pressure plate issue or flywheel. But to isolate my
problem further, I also had car running and took my foot of clutch while in
gear and car stayed idle, didn’t sputter or anything. I also, was able to
change gears without using the clutch pedal.
I now am 90 percent sure it’s my clutch, am i wrong? I plan to take the car to
local auto shop if thats the issue, but if I’m wrong, is a dealer best choice in
case I have multiple issues. I don’t want to pay the extra thousand dollars a
dealer will charge me.
