Can a replacement aftermarket starter cause any trouble with a camshaft

Yes. If the starter does not turn the flywheel at the right speed the car will start just fine but will throw a cam/crank correlation code or crankshaft position sensor code.

My Honda dealer says it will cause trouble ergo replacing it with a $833 Honda starter. Mine has been installed for two years with no trouble. I did have to replace a crankshaft sensor.
