I’m a first time buyer I need help with a car
purchase I want to do. The owner wants to sell the
truck but still hasn’t paid off the truck he says he
wants money down. What does money down mean
?

Do this transaction at the bank where the loan is held. They will pay off the loan. I would not give him any money at all, just to the lender.
