National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS), available at vehiclehistory.gov. but understand not all lemons get this designation as it cost dealerships their profit and if it can be covered up, it was. Lemon has to be added to the title. If a vehicle is branded with lemon law buyback title it means that the car in question was/ or still is a lemon and has been reacquired by the automaker due to specified warranty defect that essentially impairs its use, safety and value which Lemon has been placed on title so like FOR said CarFax or AutoCheck as this should not be left out to only one check, as sometimes this may not be added to each company's history information doing checks at the same time updated. If shown title look at the bottom of the car`s title in “Remarks” column. By law, a dealer is obliged to disclose to the potential buyers’ vehicle`s history and title including lemon law buyback title. If you have already bought a vehicle which turned to have a lemon law buyback titles you`re entitled to remedies, including a full refund of the purchase price, replacement of the car for a brand new (non-lemon) car of the same make, model and year.
In a lot of states if the truck has been to the service department 3 times for the same issue it is a lemon. However it is still a fight . Don't expect GMC to do what is right and honor the law. My GMC Sierra 2017 that I purchased new has been to Vince Whibb for repair 6 times for the same issue and is still not fixed.
