2016 Dodge Charger won't Start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2016 Dodge Charger. I am having an issue that has got me
stumped. When I push the button it doesn't start. I hear a click but the starter
does not engage. If I hook it up to my Battery Charger (Has jump function) it
will start right up. Usually can drive it that day with no issue. The next
morning same thing.I thought battery right away and I took the battery to
Advance auto parts and they said it is fine. I am stumped. Any one deal with
this type of problem?

I have an ‘08 Charger that had the same issue in 2015, I ended up replacing relay 9 and it work fine until this year. Replaced the relay, starter, battery and alternator and it starts now intermittently. Can’t figure out what’s wrong but I’ve seem other posts advising of the car not fully being in Park (have to listen for the tick) also replacing keys and the WIN.

@jaeeee89 Hey man. I have the same problem now. Battery is new, yet the car doesnt start. Also the manual shifter doesnt unlock the gear! So I cannot tow the car what so ever. It did start twice since the issue appeared, but no more! I checked the STARER fuse, and it seems ok! Any suggestions?

Hello l, I have a 2017 Dodge Charger RT with the same issue as @Parrothead306. Did you ever fix the issue ?
Check your ground wires mine was the one on the engine by the front strut there’s 2 in there I did tighten all of them just to make sure even the one on the battery and the one by the fuse box on the trunk so far no more problems I hope this helps (mine was just making a clicking noise went I jumped the Car it started right up)
I forgot to mention my car is a charger r/t 2016 now @jaeeee89 if your car wont came out of park you need to take the trim from around your shifter and check if for the pieces that hold the return spring for the shifter if it brakes dads your problem yo need to make a new hole and run the spring thru it
If your charger is having intermittent starting issues.. before doing anything else.. Tighten your battery terminals! It worked for me. I checked battery and relays too.
My 16 RT has done same thing. The answer for me was push harder on brake pedal which allows car to start. Someone mentioned brake vacuum lines and when brake is stiff due to vacuum lines it won't allow car to start bc of safety feature. Push harder, it will start, you won't break it. Plan to talk with Dodge on vacuum issue.
Have a Dodge charger my tank looks full but my range miles says something different is this a problem?
Remove the back seat go to the passenger side and remove the fuel line and then try to start if fuel does not come out the line your fuel pump is gone if you have fuel coming out the line and car does not start you may need to replace the electrical control throttle or check all of your fuses.
14’ Pursuit Charger 5.7. No start and no brake lights. I replaced brake light switch, but it didn’t help. Someone suggested the ABS module may be the culprit. Please help. Any suggestions are welcome.
My son has a 2011 RT Charger that was doing this. Would not start unless you jump started it. We had the battery, alternator & starter checked. All checked out fine. I traced down all the positive & ground connections. All were tight... when i checked the starter positive cable. It is made where it protruded away from where it connected on the starter. You could see where it had been burnt & grounding to the exhaust system. That was the problem . Pull it loose, bend it towards the starter & use electrical tape to protect the cable where it was grounding out. No more problems since. There are many posts with this same problem.. Hope this helps & resolves your situation too.
So I was having this dreaded problem on my 2015 charger RT. I was killing myself trying to figure it out. I was also having “so called speed wheel sensor issues”. I went out to start the car one morning to take my girls to school and the damn car wouldn’t start. Spent a couple hrs chasing my tail and finally... I go under the hood to check my fuses and all looks well. Then I fiddle with the red battery connection to the fuse box and it’s loose. So loose I could back it off by hand and sparks fly as I fiddle with it. So I re-secure the connection and like magic everything works again!!!! Can’t guarantee that’s everyone’s problem but all my issues felt electrical and a bad connection with the battery could explain.... So the moral of the story is check your battery connections both under the hood and in the trunk!!! Your welcome!!!
After washing my car it won’t start
Well... it was the ABS Module. I bought a used one. Swapped out the old module; it then started right up. Wow. So happy. The only issue now, is that the ABS and Traction Control dash lights are always on. Apparently, the dealer can turn them off/reset the module. I haven’t done it yet, but the car did pass NYS inspection. As long as the check engine light and/or SRS(airbag) lights aren’t on- you’re good. Thanks for all the help

Similar situation - 2019 charger would not start unless jumped, everything would come on except for the engine even with installing a new battery about 3 months prior. Problem turned out to be a loose bolt on the starter.. ever since the bolt was correctly seated the car has been starting beautifully.
