Repair

Asked by Daryn Jun 13, 2018 at 05:30 PM about the 2004 Honda Civic Coupe EX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was told I had a bad starter in my wife's car. She has a 2004 Honda Civic Ex
Coupe, 5 speed 1.7L everything in the car worked fine, all the lights worked,
stereo works but when she tried to start the car there was no sound not even a
click. So I bought a new starter and put it in and still have the same problem. I
checked the battery, it's fine. I checked the Alternator it's fine. No blown fuses.
We can push start the car with no problem. Can anyone tell me what could be
the problem? Thanks!

Possibly the neutral safety switch or the clutch switch. These prevent the car from being started in gear.

Make sure your not in security lock out. Any security or theft light on or blinking?

I realize this is for a Saturn but the principles are the same for your Honda. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsfuFcMqvjM
