when I turn on my ac my rpms drop all the way down and the car starts to shake. what can it be?

At what speed (Idle, back road or highway) ? Sounds like the A/C compressor is pulling a bit of a load on the engine when it is told to "engage" electronically, which causes the RPM's to drop. When was the last tune up done on the auto ?

there is a rpm solenoid that raises the RPMs when the AC comp. comes on. this is another thing to check GLWR
