Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I scheduled a 40,000 mile maintenace with my Honda dealer and he told me I should skip inspection of tie rods, suspension, exhaust system and a few other things because I had a low mileage car (42,600). What do you think?

Hi Hondabarb! On the one hand the dealer would have no incentive not to do the work if the car needs it so if they are telling you it's not a problem, it probably isn't. The problem is that all cars ar low mileage at their 40K check up and if procedure calls for inspection of those parts, they should be inspected. It would seem to me to be a simple matter and the dealer shouldn't be running from it. If that inspections isn't recommended that's a different circumstance. The easy thing is to call another dealer and see if they come to the same conclusion. Good luck!
