Squealing belt

Asked by Notwikedsmahtwithcar... Jun 07, 2017 at 02:13 AM about the 2003 Honda Civic EX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just had the altenator replace a month ago
with a new belt. Now when I step on the gas
its squeals like a stuck pig. It may do the
same when I turn the heat on as well. Also I
haven't needed the a.c. too much yet but its
cool for about 15 min then stops. One
person said use dressing another one said
dont. Anyone have anything else? Lol

I agree with tennisshoes, do not use the belt dressing. I think you'll find a worn belt tensioner, and possibly bad idler pulley as tennisshoes mentions. There definitely a bad pulley causing misalignment or tension for the serpentine belt.
