2002 Honda Accord "jerking" while accelerating

Asked by Shawna Jun 21, 2022 at 10:25 PM about the 2002 Honda Accord SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When accelerating, and hitting between 2000 to
3000 RPM, my Accord bucks like a bronco at a
rodeo. I can release the gas pedal and she will
even out and continue to drive normally. Stranger
thing is, it only happens in hot weather. Had issues
last summer, now  this summer and had no issues
all winter long. CEL comes on and off and code is
P1381. Have already replaced the distributor and
crank position sensor and neither have fixed the
issue. Have any suggestions?

Just thought os something else, related to the :jerking". I have seen posts on YouTube with other people experiencing the same issue, but no solution

It sounds like you have a thermal break down happening. Have you tried the wiggle test on the wiring from the distributor to see if it reacts? Or maybe try wrapping the wiring in heat shield tape.
