The alt light circuit operates normally ? and theres been reports of one fuse that is inadequate? on many taruses. The ones that have a low rated fuse ( 5A ) were increased to 15A to compensate........ things to check while you're searching. If you are still scratching your head, Asking Ford for an oasis would not hurt to learn of updates that can hold the key to the simplest fix for repeat alternator failure. You can call a dealer and tell them your vin. ask for service dept

I just tackled this same exact problem. Ford got sneeky this year and changed the alternator to a PCM powered alternator. I had my alternator rebuilt to work in my 2001 SEL.

Hello, I have a 2006 Ford taurus SEL 3.0. Thew check charging system indicator comes on. The red battery light comes on after about 15 seconds after startup. If the battery is strong it does not come on but after a few starts the battery weakens and the light and warning come on. I have replaced the battery connections and the Mega fuse.Checked fuse #26.It is good and the auto parts store says the alternator is pumping out 14 volts. I'm stumped 9 Answers
