Why does overdrive light flash?

Asked by Guru9DB1XG Nov 03, 2020 at 07:09 PM about the 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac XLT Comfort 4WD Crew Cab

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I am a retired transmission specialist and I went completely through the
transmission and replaced the solenoids and all gaskets.  I changed the valve
body and the neutral safety switch.  Is there anything else that I have missed.
It was working fine before I rebuilt it.  This has me stumped.  I hope you can
offer a suggestion.

How is the fluid level? A flashing OD light indicates an overheat condition or something else is wrong. Scan for the OBDii trouble codes will help point you in the right direction.
